On this 7-day adventure, you will discover New Brunswick’s Bay of Fundy's unique region in all its glory.  In the UNESCO Fundy Biosphere, you will learn about its geological formations, terrestrial and marine ecosystems, and immerse in nature and the cultural heritage, while supporting rural communities through thoughtful and locally inspired adventures and interactions. Your friendly and experienced local guides will show you why they love their province. From historic islands to coastal wilderness, from spotting whales to tasting fresh lobster, you will certainly become a seasoned maritimer!

The Bay of Fundy is one of the 7 wonders of North American and on this adventure, you will experience this charming region of New Brunswick Canada through its unique sea-going history. You will learn about how and why water pathways connect the community together and how it has historically shaped the landscape of the region and how this vibrant destination prioritizes its natural landscape through community endeavors to preserve these wild and beautiful spaces for generations to come. You will also learn about unique stories of barrier breaking women in the sea-fairing industry who helped pave the way for women today!

You will also eat, enjoy, and learn about how the food and flavors of the region are integrally linked to the sustainably sourced ingredients in the local cuisine. 

SERVE: The natural landscape is the heartbeat of the Fundy Community.  The water, the wilderness, and the sustainable farms is what makes this vibrant community thrive. During this experience you will contribute to preservation efforts, by choosing one of these experiences to participate in, which will directly give back to the communities and help to preserve this beautiful region for generations to come: 

• Shoreline tree planting with the Atlantic Coastal Action Program (ACAP) : a unique community-based program initiated by Environment Canada in 1991 to help Atlantic Canadians restore and sustain local watersheds and adjacent coastal areas
• A beach cleanup with the UNESCO Fundy Biosphere Region, a community-based initiative comprised of individuals and representatives of various stakeholder groups, organizations and local communities working to promote the sustainable development of the Bay of Fundy by enhancing the research and innovation capacity and is a forum for various groups to share information, knowledge and best practices.

This experience will give you the unique opportunity to experience the natural history and culture of Fundy Bay in a tangible way. The best-way for you to understand and learn about the community in Fundy is to connect with the locals, eat the food, walks through its natural spaces and venture through historical exhibits and landmarks.  You enjoy eating your way through delicious Fundy cuisine, which has become an emerging symbol of importance for the local community.  In addition to tasting local ingredients and venturing through the beautiful wilderness, you will immerse in this biodiverse region, where marine-life and animals inhabit the very lands.

With the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19), the health and safety of Global Family Travels' travelers and guides are of paramount importance.

Costa Rica is open to fully vaccinated travelers with proof of vaccination.Costa Rica allows entry without travel insurance to minors under 18 years of age and adult tourists fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines. In the case of visitors from the United States, the “COVID-19 vaccination record card” will be accepted. All travelers must pre-register using Costa Rica's HEALTH PASS (see more info in TASKS). Unvaccinated adult visitors traveling to Costa Rica will continue to need to provide proof of a medical insurance policy to cover any COVID-19 related medical treatment or quarantine lodging while in Costa Rica.

In New Brunswick, natural and cultural history is entirely abundant. Conversations with conservationists and mini-lectures with locals will provide a masterclass on the Bay of Fundy and the maritime region. Chefs, activists, NGOs, whale conservationists, and your local guides all combine to give you a riveting learning experience.

Serve

While exploring the expanse of the Bay of Fundy’s shoreline, take the opportunity to work with one of two groups involved with the sustainability and regeneration of the region. With the Atlantic Coastal Action Program, you can participate in shoreline tree planting. Or you can instead work alongside the UNESCO Fundy Biosphere Region to do a beach cleanup. Whatever group you choose, you will be helping to protect the shorelines you’ve hiked along and paddled past on this trip.
