La Paz

Nestled high in the Andes at an altitude of around 3,500 meters, La Paz is a city of stark contrasts, where ancient traditions meet modernity. The city tour includes the famous Witches' Market, where shoppers can find a variety of traditional herbs, folk remedies, and intriguing artifacts. A ride on the city’s cable car system provides breathtaking views over the rooftops and into the surrounding mountains, while a visit to Moon Valley showcases the area’s unique clay formations that resemble the surface of the moon.

Uyuni Salt Flats (Salar de Uyuni)

As the largest salt flat in the world, Uyuni offers an ethereal, moon-like landscape that stretches as far as the eye can see. The pure white salt crust creates a mirror effect after rains, reflecting the sky in a surreal display. Visitors can explore the salt museum, constructed entirely of salt bricks, and Incahuasi Island, a hilly outpost in the middle of the salt flat dotted with giant cacti and offering panoramic views of the surrounding white expanse.

Yungas Cloud Forest

This biodiverse region on the eastern slopes of the Andes is known for its moist, mist-covered forests which are a stark contrast to the arid highlands. At Cafe Munaipata, a local coffee farm, visitors can delve into the entire coffee production chain—from bean to cup—experiencing the cultivation, processing, and final product through detailed tours and tastings of different coffee varieties.

Climate Change Initiative: Tomorrow’s Air

Carbon Removal: According to the State of Global Carbon Dioxide Removal Report by University of Oxford, natural methods of removing carbon from the atmosphere are not enough by themselves due to the amount of pollution currently in the atmosphere. Innovations in removing and permanently storing carbon emissions are needed to conserve nature and reverse the course toward further climate change.

Tomorrow’s Air: Global Family Travels is passionate about encouraging tourism that is not only sustainable but regenerative. To help with our mission, we seek to partner with like-minded brands such as Tomorrow’s Air, which operates within the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA).

Tomorrow’s Air is a collective of carbon removal innovators that work to permanently remove and store carbon from the atmosphere. Travel is a large contributor to global emissions, and we feel it is important to educate and empower travelers to support efforts that combat climate change! DAY 1

DAY 1 | ARRIVE IN BOLIVIA

DAY 1 | ARRIVE IN BOLIVIA

Transfer from San Pedro de Atacama to Hito Cajon. After migration procedures, you'll start a 4x4 tour through the spectacular sites of the Eduardo Avaroa Andean Flora and Fauna Reserve. You'll see the Green Lagoon at the foot of the Licancabur Volcano, and you can also take a bath in the hot springs of Polques. After this, you'll see the Sol de Mañana geysers at a breathy altitude of 5,000 meters above sea level and continue to visit the Red Lagoon where you will be able to look for three species of Flamingoes. At the end of the day, you will arrive at the village of Villamar where you'll have the evening free to relax and have dinner.

DAY 2

DAY 2 | VILLAMAR TO COLCHANI

Location : Colchani, Bolivia

After breakfast, we’ll continue our highland safari through the lunar landscapes of the altiplano. We head north today and experience completely different landscapes of highland deserts, rock formations formed by years of wind erosion, and the hidden Laguna Katal. We will also be able to enjoy unique Andean wildlife such as vicuñas, and viscachas. We will have a stop in the train cemetery before continuing to our hotel.

DAY 3

DAY 3 | UYUNI SALT FLATS

In the morning, we will visit the town of Coquesa to observe and participate in the daily activities of the residents, such as: llama grazing, quinoa making process, weaving workshop and we will try typical gastronomy. Then, we will enter the great Uyuni Salt Flats where we can visit the small salt museum (which was constructed with salt!) and visit the salt flats, known as the Salar. You'll also get to walk around the otherworldly Incahuasi Island which is covered in enormous cacti, and boasts amazing views of the flats. Enjoy a beautiful sunset in the middle of the salar before back to the hotel.

DAY 4

DAY 4 | UYUNI – LA PAZ

Location : La Paz, Bolivia

DAY 4 | UYUNI – LA PAZ

Transfer from the hotel to the airport for a flight to La Paz. Begin a city tour upon arrival, exploring attractions like the witches' market—known for its medicinal herbs and spiritual items. After hotel check-in and lunch, take a cable car ride to view La Paz's landscapes. The tour continues with a visit to the Moon Valley, known for its clay formations shaped by erosion. Conclude the day at local ceramist Mario Sarabia’s workshop, where you can learn about clay techniques and view his gallery.

DAY 5

DAY 5 | MUNAIPATA COFFEE TOUR

Today we head to the Yungas Cloud Forest region, on the eastern slopes of the Andes (3 hrs.).

Today we will visit Cafe Munaipata, a local coffee farm where you'll be able to see the different steps of growing and processing coffee. Finally, we will be tasting the different types of coffee, including the one we roasted before. We will have lunch at this local farm and then return to the city.

DAY 6 | LA PAZ – SANTIAGO DE OKOLA

DAY 6 | LA PAZ – SANTIAGO DE OKOLA

Today, a guide and private transport will pick you up from your La Paz accommodation for a 3-hour drive to Santiago de Okola, a serene fishing and farming village on the shores of Lake Titicaca. Since 2008, Okola has welcomed visitors who lodge in specially prepared rooms by local families. During your three-day stay, engage in a community tour and choose a workshop on weaving, cooking, or medicinal plants. Enjoy traditional meals with your host family, including an apthapi lunch. Later, trek to the Sleeping Dragon mountain for stunning views of Lake Titicaca, then return to your homestay for dinner and overnight rest.

DAY 7

DAY 7 | SANTIAGO DE OKOLA – LA PAZ

DAY 7 | SANTIAGO DE OKOLA – LA PAZ

After breakfast, we will be part of the textile workshop, here we will learn the traditional weaving in the Andes. Or you could choose to visit the community farms with the local guide and learn about the Andean products of the area, such as potatoes and quinoa. Finally, we will return to our homestay for lunch. After lunch, our private transport will take us back to La Paz.
