About the Galápagos Islands

This archipelago is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a true paradise for nature lovers. The Galapagos Islands are famous for their unique and endemic species, such as the Galapagos giant tortoise, marine iguanas, and various bird species, like the blue-footed booby and Darwin's finches. Quito, Ecuador’s capital and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, often serves as the gateway to the Galápagos Islands. Located high in the Andes at 2,850 meters (9,350 ft), the city offers well-preserved colonial architecture, historic plazas, and sweeping mountain views. Travelers may choose to spend one to two nights here before or after the program to explore the historic center or nearby natural areas such as Cotopaxi National Park or the Mindo Cloud Forest.
