The Acropolis of Athens is one of the most iconic landmarks of ancient Greece and an enduring symbol of the country’s history and cultural heritage. Rising high above the city, this ancient hill was the religious and ceremonial heart of Athens and is home to remarkable monuments built primarily during the 5th century BCE, during the city’s Golden Age.

At its center stands the Parthenon, dedicated to Athena, the patron goddess of Athens, alongside the Erechtheion with its famous Caryatids, the Temple of Athena Nike, and the monumental Propylaea gateway. Today, the UNESCO-listed Acropolis offers a fascinating window into the art, architecture, mythology, and civic life of ancient Athens, while reflecting the lasting influence of Greek civilization on the world.
