ABOUT HWANGE NATIONAL PARK

Location : Zimbabwe

Hwange is Zimbabwe’s largest National Park.  At 5600 square mile area, it supports a mix of habitats, a diverse area that is shared between desert-adapted and woodland species, ensuring large numbers of animals all year round. Hwange boasts a tremendous selection of wildlife with over 100 species of mammals and nearly 400 bird species recorded. The elephants of Hwange are world-famous and the park's elephant population is one of the largest in the world, they number upward of 45,000 in the park!

Safari! Northern Hwange National Park & Nehimba Lodge

DAY 4

After breakfast, embark by road to the northern gate of Hwange National Park, and then board 4x4 vehicles for your first safari to Nehimba Lodge. Drinks, snacks, and lunch will be provided en-route.  

Enjoy game drives and walks, exploring Hwange National Park, including Nehimba Seep, which is an ancient source of water used by the San Bushmen historically as well as being a place where elephant still dig for water and minerals.

Activities Include:

  • Depart for Hwange National Park
  • Morning Game Drives
  • Arrive at Nehimba Lodge 
  • Late Afternoon Game Drives followed by dinner

Included: Bed & Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Overnight at Nehimba Lodge

DAY 4 - 6

Remotely nestled away on a huge private concession in the northern part of Hwange National Park, Nehimba Lodge combines luxury living, ultimate elegance and African charm to provide you with an exceptional safari experience. Our 9 spacious canvas under thatch tents are built on teak decks and along with the guest area, overlooking the magnificent lodge pan, which is frequented by large numbers of elephants, particularly in the dry season.

Wild Life Viewing on Safari!

DAY 5 - 6

Due to its superb setting within the national park, Nehimba is able to offer exceptionally good game drives and guided walks. All Big Five animals roam Hwange, in addition to over a hundred species of mammal and almost four hundred species of bird! It is not uncommon for guests to spot cheetah, giraffe, zebra, and many types of antelope.

Activities include:

  • Morning, afternoon, and night game drive revealing such wildlife as civet, hyena, and porcupine.
  • Walking Safaris 
  • Nehimba has its own hide, close to the waterhole for great photo opportunities.
  • And guests are encouraged to visit Nehimba Seep, after which the lodge is named, a conservation area that is one of Hwange’s very few year-round water sources. Elephant love it here!
